The renovation project of Shopping Crystal came from the need to adapt the enterprise to the new market and users demands.
The general concept for the reform of the existing building had as a prerogative the resizing of the building, bringing greater visibility to the architectural volume within the urban landscape and its surroundings.
For such purpose, an upper structure was created, involving the entire building as a metallic box, imposing a gathering aspect among the varied volumes that now share the space within the premises.
With the development of this box, projecting over the frontal alignment, it enabled a creation of an atrium for the entrance, which protects the mall user from the weather, in addition to bring a monument-like aspect to the main access.
This atrium, formed right from the use of a solar shading panel, maintains the construction transparency and brings a vertical aspect and magnificence to the entrance, with the high ceiling height.
The use of metallic elements, such as a corrugated awning that slides from the façade, and the corten steel panel that covers part of the internal block, in addition to being enablers for the work execution schedule, result in a strong visual element within the architectural object context.
The corten steel panel was developed from customized perforate plates, which follow a unique matrix and varied diameters. The panel assembly followed a map where the plates positioning obeyed a direction that oscillated from dense to thin which, combined to the lighting, created a new visual identity for the mall.
